Have you ridden with yours yet Eric?

I took mine out for about 70 miles on Saturday. It seems more quiet than the 1000 as best that I can remember, and it definitely is WAY more quiet than my HJC. There's just a smooth sounding airflow around it at speed with no rumble or booming. So much that I kept having to slow down because it sounded like I was going slow. This is with earplugs like I always ride, and with all the top vents all closed. With the top vents open there's a little more noise of course, but not much. I got a slight whistle when turning my head to look for traffic but just for a second.

There's a crazy blast of air forced up on the inside of the shield from the chin intake. So much that even at 40 mph I was wondering why I was getting to much of what I thought was air leakage swirling around my glasses. I clicked that chin intake shut and it was gone. With my touring windscreen on the VFR, I get most of the air directly right at my face, so I'm sure that helped. That'll be nice in the summer too. Overall the helmet seals all around the bottom of my head and has a good fit. It's a LITTLE tight being a Large, but after some break in, I think it'll be perfect.

With the chin intake open I didn't get any fogging. I'll see how well it works tomorrow morning on the way to work.

Haven't ridden with it yet, but I'll let you know my initial reaction. The true test is how I'll feel about it 6 months from now.

The helmet did pretty good in the cold this morning. At slow speeds the chin vent kept the visor and more importantly, my glasses fog-free. Above about 40mph I closed the vent to keep the cold air out and everything stayed clear. Of course the humidity was pretty low today. Opening a rear vent or 2 increased the noise with the upper 2 vents being the most noisy and I think they actually hurt the anti-fog as the suction from the rear would pull my breath up onto my glasses and they would fog very slightly. Therefore I just kept them closed and was fine. I'm running with the chin guard/curtain and the nose-piece in place. With my high-necked jacket and a neck-gaiter (with a Buell logo no less) I had almost no cold air leakage into the helmet. Overall I'm loving it so far.

I ordered a Pinlock shield and inserts from Newenough. Nobody had them at first so I was checking ever now and then and finally saw them last week. They are out of the clear version, but I got dark smoke and the yellow inserts. I'm hoping the yellow will help see through the muck when I'm riding in the rain.

I should have said in the previous post that I ordered the stuff last week, and it arrived Wednesday afternoon.

I installed the shield and the dark smoke insert and tried it out on the ride to work this morning. I think in just 1 ride I'm a believer. NEVER before have I shut my shield when I left the house and then didn't open it again until I got to work but that's what I did today. And I didn't have my chin vent open to blow air on the shield either. Even sitting at lights the shield never fogged where the insert covered, and it covers probably 90-95% of the shield. It's big enough that I have to actually TRY to see the edges of it. And and 1 point I looked way over at the top edge of the shield near where it mounts to the helmet...the spot that wasn't covered by the insert was a solid cloud of moisture but my normal field of vision was clear.

So anyway, that's just 1 ride but it seems to work great so far.

keep me updated. So far I have liked mine alot. The fogging has been annoying this winter, but other than that I have no compliants. If yours does well I'll probably pick one up for my helmet next winter.

How much did it cost? Where did you get yours from?
How it only took a week to get it, right?

I though the pinlock system fits onto the existing face shield?

It needs those little posts or pegs that the inserts are wedged between to make the seal between the shield and insert. The original shield with the helmet doesn't have them. (at least mine doesn't)

I need to see the shield with the pin lock pegs. I'm looking at my clear shield now. It's the CW-1 model, but I don't see any extra pegs either. The pin-lock stuff is something I will be wanting for next winter. I think this on is pretty much over. I'm just excited at the thought of not dealing with excessive fogging during cold mornings ever again.

Thanks. Didn't you have something like this in one of your helmets Wally?

What sucks is I don't think the usa site even has info on the RF1100 and X-12 yet. All I saw listed were the CV-1 shields on the 1000 and x-11.

Newenough is the first place I saw them listed for the new helmets so I jumped on it.
